Saturdays in February

Servers' training continues each Saturday morning at 10.30am. It is great to see so many new servers and any child who has made his/her First Communion is welcome to train as a server (contact Nick Babb).

Saturday 7th February

We welcome through Holy Baptism at 4.15pm, Thomas Anthony Woods (10 months), his parents Emma and Anthony, and godparents Mary and Jonathan.

Monday 9th February

Journey in Faith 8.00-9.30pm in the Presbytery (281A). This session will be led by Mary Hutchinson. The theme is The Sacraments of Marriage and Holy Orders.

Tuesday 10th February

Welcomers’ meeting at 15 Waldegrave Road, Bickley at 8.00pm.

Justice and Peace Group at 8.00pm in the Social Centre.

Thursdays 5th and 12th February

Celebrating the Year of St Paul is an excellent course offered by our Education Centre at Tooting Bec. It’s a bit of a trek from Petts Wood, but well worth it. These sessions are entitled Imaging the Word. There is a poster in the church porch with further details. Do take advantage of our diocesan resources – all part of our on-going formation as members of the Catholic Church.

Friday 13th February

Ladies Pamper evening 7.30-10.00pm in St James’ School Hall. See posters in porch. This is in aid of St James’ Pre-School.

Saturday 14th February

Senior Youth Group 1.30-3.30pm. Join them for lunch and activities, open to all year 10’s only.

Junior Youth Group 3.45-5.45pm. Join them for their Valentines theme. Open to all year 7, 8 and 9.

Rehearsals for Handel's Messiah from 3.30-5.00pm in the church. See details here.

Wednesdays 4th, 11th, 18th, 25th February

Firm Believers fun-fitness class for all. Wednesdays 7.00-7.45pm in the Social Centre with drinks and chat afterwards. You should bring a towel or mat to lie on. The cost of each session is £4 and all are welcome!

Wednesday 25th February

Ash Wednesday (1st day of Lent) Masses will be at 9.30am and 8.00pm. The school will attend the 9.30am Mass. This is a day of fasting and abstinence, i.e. no meat or alcohol, and only one major meal.

Thursday 26th February

The Mission and Planning Team (MaP) will hold its first meeting in the Social Centre at 8.30pm. This consists of members of the parish invited by Fr Bryan to assist him in reflecting on our parish life together and to plan strategically for the immediate, short and long term. They are: Aline Dalgleish, Sue David, Breda Ford, Kate Charlesworth, Ann Jackson, Marie Morley, Madeleine Howell, Peter Benson, Owen Clutton, Austin Barradell, Nick Babb, Chris Hairs, David McCabe and Roger Wright.

Saturday 28th February

We welcome through Holy Baptism, Thomas Henry Smith (5 months), his parents Malgorzata and Christopher, and godparents Tomasz, Anna and Ewa; and also Jasmine Burchell (17 months), her parents Elizabeth and Paul, and godparents Rosalda and Ryan.
