Saturday 2nd May First Confession for year 3 children at non-Catholic schools, 10.00am We welcome through Holy Baptism at 3.45pm, Joseph Terence Magee (9 months), his parents Liam & Amanda and his godparents Christopher, Elizabeth, Lynette & Shaun, and at 4.30pm, Luke Thomas Samuels (5 months) and his parents Jon-Paul & Hannah and godparents Lisa, Robert & Daniel. Bank Holiday Monday 4th May Altar Servers Rally at the Aylesford Priory near Maidstone. Nick Babb will be contacting parents. Families invited are too and this will be a really pleasant day out in the lovely grounds of Aylesford. There will be concelebrated Mass with Bishop Paul Hendricks at 11.30am. No Journey in Faith this evening - resumes on 11th May. Tuesday 5th May Petts Wood Churches Together meeting at 8.15pm – Quaker Meeting House. Zosia Bajorek, Barbara Bridle and Fr Bryan will represent St James'. Wednesday 6th May Mass for Year 5 in St James’ School at 8.50 am. Thursday 7th May Finance Committee meeting at 10.00am in Presbytery. Pastoral & Advisory Team (PAT) at 8.00pm in Presbytery. Saturday 9th May Gardening Task Force to be led by Frank Simon. Could as many people as possible turn up to help clear/tidy our parish garden from 10.00am-12 noon? We are so lucky to have this area, and there are several outdoor events coming up. Sunday 10th May CWL Bring & Buy Sale after both Sunday Masses. Good quality items would be welcome, such as cakes, cosmetics, children’s books, jams, toiletries, ornaments, etc. More details from Madeleine Howell. The Knights of St Columba are having a recruiting drive for new members at all Masses this weekend. Flavio Iorio will be talking after each Mass. Monday 11th May Journey in Faith at 8.00pm in the Presbytery. Tuesday 12th May Justice & Peace Group meeting at 8.00pm in the Social Centre. Wednesday 13th May Training evening for new Eucharistic Ministers at 8.00pm in church. We are blessed by having eight parishioners to be commissioned at Aylesford on Saturday 23rd May. Thursday 14th May Mission and Planning Team meet in the Servers' Room at 8.30pm. Saturday 16th May We welcome through Holy Baptism at 4.30pm, Aurelia and Laetitia Santorin (4 years), their parents Anne Clair and Jean-Luc, and godparents Sophie and Christopher. Newcomers welcome evening in the Social Centre, starting after the 6.00pm Mass. Sunday 17th May We welcome Mgr John Elliott to the 11.30am Mass, on the occasion of his Golden Jubilee (50th anniversary of his ordination to the priesthood). You are all most welcome to the finger buffet at 12.30pm in the Social Centre. We wish Mgr every blessing and happiness on this special day and we thank God for his long ministry in this parish (1978-2006). A special welcome also to Fr George Webster, who will be preaching at 11.30am, and who studied with Mgr at Valladolid. Many thanks to all who have contributed in any way. Monday 18th May Monthly meeting of the Knights of St Columba at 8.00pm in the Social Centre. New members are very welcome. Final meeting at 8.00pm to arrange the Taizé trip. A great week from 2nd to 9th August for those approximately 17-35 years. £150 plus passport. Contact Nick Babb. About 20 are going this year. There will be no Journey in Faith sessions until Monday 1st June. Crofton Youth Singers Concert at 7.30pm in the Crofton Baptist Church. Refreshments will be served after the concert and there will be a retiring collection for charity. Tuesday 19th May Training evening for new Eucharistic Ministers at 8.00pm in church. Wednesday 20th May Class Mass for Year 4 in St James' School at 8.50am. Thursday 21st May Vincent Nichols will be installed as RC Archbishop of England and Wales at Westminster Cathedral. Do pray for him and the immense task he faces. Friday 22nd May Concert by ‘Lyra’ vocal ensemble at 8.00pm. We are fortunate to host this group of four young highly talented singers from St Petersburg, Russia who will be singing Russian church and folk music. They are touring and singing in many churches throughout the country. Please support this event, after which there will be a retiring collection. Saturday 23rd May Commissioning of eight new Eucharistic Ministers by Bishop Howard Tripp at Aylesford (10.00am-4.00pm). Please pray for the new ministers: Zosia Bajorek, Teresa Forde, Sue Ingle, Liz Lawrence, Marian Smith, Nick Babb, Tony McElroy and Simon Poulton. Saturday 30th May Celebration of the Sacrament of Marriage to be held at Aylesford Priory, starting at 3.00pm. This is a wonderful way of celebrating 1st, 10th, 25th, 40th, 50th or 60+ years of marriage. Parishioners went last year and found it to be a great family day out - for married couples, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren! Details to Fr Bryan please as soon as possible. Sunday 31st May We welcome, through Holy Baptism, Luke David Christopher Smith (5 months), his parents Martin and Eleanor, and godparent Sister Andrea Le Gueuel.
