Many hands make light work!
Church Spring Cleaning
Saturday 4th April 2009

About 40 parishioners dressed down to go to church, for a couple of hours, in a successful attempt to make St James' bright and clean for Easter.  Benches were dusted and polished, floors mopped, walls washed, carpets vacuumed, stained glass cleaned, candle wax removed from the sanctuary, in addition to a host of other tasks.  The atmosphere was very sociable and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves.  It would appear that for most, cleaning the church is more fun than doing it at home.  Quite a few men were also demonstrating their housework skills, so some of the ladies  can likely expect more help at home from now on!

At Mass on Sunday, Fr Bryan thanked all those involved for helping to make the church   look fit for our Easter worship.  Significantly the effort was made in time for our remembrance of Christ's entrance into Jerusalem, with the Palm Sunday processions.
