What was on in November 2009
Saturday 7th November We welcome through Holy Baptism, at 3.45pm, Leo Antonio Modera Jayasekara (9 months), his parents Emilia and Sean and godparents Lisa and Robert; and at 4.30pm, Phoebe Anna Harrison (8 months), her parents Hannah and Neil and godparents Kirsty and Anne-Marie and Andrew. A local rock band (youth group) will perform live in the church hall from 4.00-5.00pm. All parishioners welcome. Sunday 8th November Our Cubs will be holding a cake sale after the 11.30am Mass. Tuesday 10th November Justice & Peace Group meet in the Social Centre at 8.00pm. Amongst other items, Paul and Rachel Elliston will give a report on their very difficult time in Peru over the past 18 months. Several of us met them before they went (Paul is Fr Bryan's nephew) and we are hoping for a good attendance. Wednesday 11th November Mass will be at 9.00am (please note the time) in St James’ School. Coffee, etc. will be served in school after the Mass. This Wednesday arrangement will happen two or three times each term. We are very keen to develop the already excellent relationship between the school and the parish and the school is keen to welcome parishioners on these occasions. Thursday 12th November St James' School Open Morning, 9.30am for about an hour, when SIF (application) forms will be available. Parents applying for Catholic schools should pick up a blue form from Fr Bryan after Mass during the weekend of 7/8th November which explains when and how forms are to be handed in, and returned to parents. Mission and Planning Team (MaP) at 7.45pm in the church meeting room. Do let any member of MaP know if you would like a particular topic raised. Sunday 15th November 42 families have been invited to the special Mass of Welcome at 11.30am for children who have been baptised here (or occasionally elsewhere) since September 2008. If we have left anyone out please let us know via the parish office. This is always a lovely occasion and a chance for us to welcome the newly baptised into our community. Tuesday 17th November Christmas Choir rehearsals start in church (8.00-9.30pm). The choir will sing on Sunday 20th December at 6.30pm (Thrice Welcome Christmas) and Midnight Mass on 24th December. All singers most welcome but commitment is essential! Thursday 19th November Pastoral and Advisory Team (PAT) meet in the Presbytery at 7.45pm. The team is always happy to discuss matters you may wish to raise. Saturday 21st November We welcome, through Holy Baptism, Emilia Patricia Megan Woolsey (4 months), her parents Gemma and Stephen and godparents Peter, Lucy, John and Jonathon. Youth Group are having a quiz afternoon (3.45-5.45pm). Make your own team or a team will be arranged for you! Lots of great prizes – ages Year 7 to Year 11 welcome. Christmas Choir practice schedule Tuesday 17th November 8.00-9.30pm Tuesday 24th November 8.00-9.30pm Monday 30th November 8.00-9.30pm (originally 1st December 8.30-10.00pm) Mondays 2nd, 16th, 30th November Journey in Faith (RCIA course for non Catholics) is held fortnightly from 7.30–9.00pm at 281A Crescent Drive. Relaxed, warm, open and Catholic spouses are most welcome too! Monday 30th November CWL meeting at 7.30pm with a talk at 8.15pm by Sue Gilder, Chaplain to Harris HospiceCare.
