Mondays 10th and 17th May

Confirmation preparation at 7.00pm in the Social Centre.

Evangelium course continues in the Social Centre, 8.15pm for 8.30-9.45pm.

Saturday 1st May

We welcome through Holy Baptism at 4.30pm, Darcie (3 years) and Leo (8 months) Humberstone, their parents Jonathon and Louise and godparents Patricia, Dominic and Claire.

Parish social evening from 7.00pm onwards. Quite informal so come along to meet your fellow parishioners, play cards or board games or just have a chat. Tea, coffee available and the bar will be open. £1.00 entrance which will be donated towards the seminary fund.

Wednesday 5th May

Mass at 9.00am in St James' School for Year 5 and any parishioners who would like to attend, with coffee in school afterwards.

Meeting for all members of the Welcomer's Team (or anybody interested in joining) at 8.00pm in the Social Centre. This will be mainly to discuss the evening being arranged to welcome newcomers to the parish (scheduled for Saturday 19th June).

Thursday 6th May

Pastoral and Advisory Team meeting starting at 7.45pm in the Presbytery.

Saturday 8th May

Seven of our catechists will be attending a course at St Joseph’s Bromley called "Sowing Good Seeds".

We welcome today at 2.00pm, though Holy Baptism, George McDermott (11 months), his parents Christian and Natasha and godparents Richard, Helen, Paul and Lisa.

All leaders (past and present) of the Guides and Scouts are very welcome to celebrate the 60th Anniversary of the 3rd Petts Wood Guides and Scouts in the Social Centre from 7.30-11.00pm. Buffet and bar. RSVP to Teresa Troy

Monday 10th May

Requiem Mass for Kevin Brady, RIP at 10.00am. Kevin was organist here for many years. The family hope that as many parishioners as possible will come.

Tuesday 11th May

Justice and Peace meeting in the Social Centre at 8.00pm.

Thursday 13th May

Mission and Planning meeting at 8.00pm in the church meeting room.

Sunday 16th May

The Petts Wood Festival Chorus, conducted by Fr Bryan Wells, will perform Vivaldi's "Gloria" and "Zadok the Priest" by Handel, together with "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring" by Bach. In addition there will be a short programme by the nationally acclaimed artistes Tim Wells (‘cello) and Dominique Wong-Min (piano). Performances will be at:

3.00pm in Christ Church, Willett Way, Petts Wood

7.30pm in St James', Lakeswood Road, Petts Wood

The proceeds after expenses will be donated to the children's hospice, Demelza House. Tickets cost £7 each and are available from St James' Repository as well as the Rainbow Bookshop in Queensway, Petts Wood.

Tuesday 18th May

Confirmation at 7.30pm with Bishop Pat Lynch, for young people in school years 8 and 9. 25 of our young people will be sealed with the gift of the Holy Spirit when the Bishop will administer the Sacrament of Confirmation. Please remember them all in your prayers.

Wednesday 19th May

Meeting for all parents of First Communion children (starting at 7.00pm and ending by 8.00pm). Please note change of date and time.

Saturday 22nd May

Return visit of LYRA, the vocal ensemble of four young professional singers from St Petersburg, Russia starting at 7.30pm in the church. Last year they gave us a wonderful evening of Russian music – much of it in national costume. This concert is free with just a retiring collection.

Sunday 23rd May

Pentecost: when the disciples were “clothed with the power from on high” – the Holy Spirit. You are invited to come to Mass dressed in the colours of fire: red, orange, yellow or white!

Special Taizé service for Pentecost Sunday at 7.00pm. If you would like to join the trip to Taizé (1st to 8th August) please contact Nick Babb or Zosia Bajorek as booking will take place very soon.
