Exhibition of Social Centre Project concept designs by the architect, together with cost information and also a history of our parish and its building. Please visit the exhibition, ask questions and leave your comments in the box provided.

Friday 1st October

CAFOD Family Fast Day. There will be a speaker from CAFOD at all Masses this coming weekend.

Saturday 2nd October

The St James' Autumn Festival will be held in the Social Centre from 12noon to 4.00pm.

Monday 4th October

CWL meeting at 8.00pm (moved from 27th September).

Tuesday 5th October

Finance Committee at 10.15am in the Presbytery.

Wednesday 6th October

Youth Leaders meet with Karen North in the Meeting Room at 8.00pm.

Saturday 9th October

We welcome through Holy Baptism at 3.00pm, Hayden King (8 months), his parents Jonathan and Joanna and godparents Nicole, Adam and Darren; and at 3.45pm, Lisa Bolton (3 months), her parents Robert and Susie and godparents Jacqueline and Clare; and at 4.30pm Roisin Norman-Brown (14 months) her parents Paul and Michelle and godparents Wayne and Kirstie.

Weekend Masses for 9/10th October

Justice & Peace Group will be collecting food for the Manna Centre as we celebrate Harvest. Please bring dried and tinned foods to support the work of this great charity. There is also a second collection for the Needs of the Diocese.

Wednesday 13th October

Baptism preparation evening for those parents who have been invited.

Thursday 14th October

A second forum for the parish to respond to the architect's presentation, having seen the Social Centre proposals displayed in the exhibition at the back of the church.

Saturday 16th October

The Diocesan Justice, Peace & Integrity of Creation Autumn Assembly will be held at Amigo Hall, Southwark Cathedral. Hear our Archbishop Peter Smith giving the keynote speech alongside Helen O'Brien who is the recently appointed Chief Executive of Caritas Social Action Network. We welcome, through Holy Baptism at 4.30pm, Emilia Arnold (6 months), her parents Julian and Agnieszka and godparents Craig and Kamila.

Wednesday 20th October

Harvest Mass with St James' School at 9.30am in church.

Thursday 21st October

Meeting for all Catechists in the Meeting Room at 8.00pm.

Friday 22nd October

Meeting for Eucharistic Ministers who take Holy Communion to the sick and housebound, at 10.15am in the Meeting Room.

BBC2 is showing the first of three episodes of The Big Silence at 7.00pm (not 9.00pm as announced in Briefly). It is presented by Abbot Christopher Jamison of Worth Abbey who was featured in The Monastery five years ago. This promises to be excellent religious television and perhaps help us to rediscover silence!

Saturday 23rd October

Wedding of Nicola O’Meara and Gareth Wakenell at 3.00pm We welcome Nicola and Gareth from the Cray Valley Parish where the church is being rebuilt. We wish them every happiness.

Sunday 24th October

Taizé style service at 7.00pm. Everyone is most welcome and especially young people. Do come and pray with the beautiful Taizé music. This is a prayerful and reflective celebration.

Monday 25th October
