Various fundraising initiatives are underway and more will follow to raise the substantial maintenance fund needed. Suggestions from parishioners are very welcome and should be made to Fr Bryan in the first instance. The parish is grateful for the efforts already made by individual parishioners. Details of such activities and how the funds are being raising will be described here. Click on the green links for more information.
Regular offertory collections
These will take place every month and their dates can be checked on the Second Collections list for 2011. There are special envelopes which can be used for donations given with gift aid.
Direct debits
The ideal method of donating to the maintenance fund is by direct debit. Please contact Geoff Ford for further details.
Importance of Gift Aid
Gift Aid will be an important source of additional finance for the maintenance fund. We currently expect to receive 28p for every £1 put in the named envelopes. You can read more about Gift Aid here.
Galway Bay Half Marathon
We are indebted for the courage and generosity of parishioner Denise Merriman who will be running the Galway Bay Half Marathon on Saturday 1st October. Denise has agreed to donate her sponsorship money to the St James' Maintenance and Refurbishment Fund. Even better, the company she works for will match her donation up to a maximum of £2,000. Parishioners are strongly encouraged to sponsor Denise by clicking here. There is also a form available from Denise for those who prefer not to sponsor on-line. Be assured that all she raises, including the gift aid, will go to the St James', so be generous with your support as you consider the pain Denise will suffer!
A group of volunteers has agreed to organise this event which will take place on Saturday 1st October 2011. The profit from this event will be put towards a new roof for the Social Centre which is planned for summer 2012.
This has been set up because it will cost none of us a penny and could be used for general parish funds if no development takes place. Please follow the link above to find out more. This involves no physical pain at all and could even provide retail therapy!
