Our principal aim is to provide a safe place for young people to go, in order that they can participate in activities which interest them.  We want to enable them to maintain and make new friendships and to make them feel like a valued part of the parish, and to encourage them to become more fully involved in the activities of the church.

Admission is £1.  Registration and medical forms are required to be completed and a strict Code of Conduct is in place.  (Follow the link to read and print the code.)

We meet every other Saturday afternoon during term time only.  Activities include football in the church garden, table tennis and snooker in the hall, as well as computer games and chill out areas.  There is a tuck shop to enable the children to purchase drinks and snacks.  Regular talks by local professionals are planned, as well as outings to the theatre, bowling alley, and leisure centre.  Future workshops will include cookery, beauty therapy and debating.

All children who worship at St James’ and St Swithun's and who are in Years 7, 8 and 9 at school are very welcome to the Junior section and Year 10 and 11 pupils to the Seniors.

The Seniors meet from 1.30-3.30pm (which includes lunch) and Juniors from 3.45-5.45pm, unless otherwise advised.  Meetings this term are as follows:

06 February
27 February
24 April
15 May
12 June
03 July
Youth Groups
We are a group of parents/adults from St James’ parish who have felt for a long time that there is a need for some kind of regular youth group for those children in the parish aged 11 – 17.
Unless otherwise advised, we will meet in the Social Centre at the usual times.  Any young people who have not registered should collect the relevant forms on their first visit.  We are still operating a strict ‘no friends’ policy.

In order for the Group to run successfully, we need lots of parental help, so please email the Youth Group leaders to let them know which date you can go onto the Parent Rota.
