What was on in February 2008
Every Sunday in February Rehearsals for Bach's St John Passion, 3.00-5.00pm (but 3.30-5.00pm on Mother's Day).
Email Fr Bryan for more details. The proceeds of the two performances will go to Bromley Alzheimer’s Society. First Communion Classes for children at non-Catholic Schools (year 3 children). These classes started on Sunday 13th January, and are held from the end of the 10am Mass, until about 11.30am. The contact is Miriam Travers. Confirmation Classes Young people in years 8 and 9 please note (in the Social Centre 6.45-7.45pm). Candidates are expected to attend Mass each week at St James' as well as the Monday evening preparation meetings. Saturday 9th February Parish Working Party to tidy and clear the site from 10.00am to 1.00pm. Could you please spare an hour (or more) to help in this work, preparing us for our Health & Safety inspection on 26th March. It would be useful to know who can come (please sign list in porch) – thank you. Sunday 10th February
Face to Face at Petts Wood Methodist church, 6.30pm. Rt Rev. George Stack, area bishop in Westminster Diocese, will be talking face to face with the Rev. Paul Hulme. As many parishioners as possible should try to attend in support of one of our Catholic bishops! The conversation will last exactly one hour and be followed by refreshments, and an opportunity to meet Bishop Stack. Tuesday 12th February Peace and Justice Group meeting (Social Centre 8.00pm). All members of the Parish (and of course any members of other churches) are warmly invited to this meeting, when there will be a presentation by Paul Elliston (Father Bryan’s Nephew) about Peru. Paul and his wife Rachel are going to an earthquake torn city near Lima, for two years as aid workers, and would like to share their vocation with us. Most of all they will value our prayers as they undertake this difficult work, so do come along to encourage them and also to learn more about our Justice & Peace Group. This is ‘Christianity in Action’ and lies at the heart of the gospel. See you there! For further details please contact
David McCabe. Also please take a Justice & Peace application form from the church porch and perhaps also a pack, assembled by David, which explains the whole J&P concept in our diocese. The minutes of the last meeting are available in the church porch or
you can read them here. Monday 25th February Catholic Women's League meet in the Social Centre at 8.00pm.
