Saturday 3rd May

The Knights of St Columba invite everyone to an evening of rock and blues music in the Social Centre from 7.00pm till late. There will be children's music from 7.00-8.00pm. Featuring the Bluesicians with lead singer, our very own, Jo Corteen. Tickets £7 and children £3, which includes a light supper. Licensed bar. Tuesday 6th May

Servers' rehearsal for confirmation Mass at 7.00pm. All servers for this Mass MUST attend this rehearsal, which will be the last one before the confirmation.

Welcomers Group meeting in the Social Centre at 8.00pm. We would be very pleased to see anybody interested in joining the group.

Saturday 10th May

Quiz Night in the Social Centre from 7.30-10.30pm. The proceeds will go towards funds for the Explorer Scouts and St James' Pre School. Tickets at £5.00 each can be bought at the door, and also by contacting Chas (Explorers) or Geraldine (Pre School). This event was held two years ago when it was a sell out, so early enquiry is advised.

Monday 12th May

Confirmation rehearsal in church 6.45-8.00pm. ALL candidates – and sponsors if possible – are required to be at this rehearsal. Tuesday 13th May

Justice and Peace Group meet in the Social Centre 8.00pm. Minutes of last meeting available in porch and on the website – new members most welcome.

Wednesday 14th May

Children's Liturgy Group Leaders' meeting at 8.00pm in the Servers' Room.

Thursday 15th May

Confirmation for 50 young people. Bishop Paul Hendricks (area Bishop for Southwark South West) will confirm them at Mass in St James' at 7.30pm.

Saturday 17th May

Wedding of Shabana Waraich and Kevin Rebello at 2.00pm. We ask God’s blessing on this couple for a long and happy married life.

The 6.00pm Mass will be for the intentions of those who are new to the parish (i.e. those who have arrived in the last 18 months). Immediately after Mass there will be a get together in the Social Centre until about 8.30pm. This is to say “welcome to the parish” and to provide an opportunity to get to meet each other. Light snacks and drinks will be served. To help with the catering arrangements would you please put your name on the list in the porch if you are attending.

Tuesday 20th May

The 2008 trip to Taizé will take place from 2nd to 9th August. This is for anyone in the 17-35 age group and will be a fantastic week in Burgundy, France! Meeting in Presbytery at 8.00pm for anyone interested. Cost approx. £150 plus valid passport.

Sunday 25th May

Petts Wood Festival Chorus meets at St James' (3.30-5.00pm) for first rehearsal of performance at Residents' Association annual service on 8th June.

Monday 26th May

Please support the Holy Ghost Fathers’ Garden Fete starting 1.30pm at 6 Woodlands Road, Bickley, BR1 2AF.

Special Mass at Aylesford Priory for those celebrating their 10th/25th/40th/50th/60th wedding anniversary this year. Contact the Office for Marriage & Family Life if you would like to receive an invitation from the Archbishop to attend this Mass on the Bank Holiday Monday. First Communion Classes

For children at non-Catholic Schools (year 3 children). These classes are held from the end of the 10am Mass, until about 11.30am. The contact is Miriam Travers.
