Evangelium
Enquiring about the Catholic Faith at St James'
St James' Church is open to all who may enquire about the Catholic Faith. Already many non-Catholics - usually the partners of Catholics - worship in St James' and they are most welcome. In addition, enquiries are often received from people who would like to know a little more.
If you relish the idea of really learning about the Catholic Faith in a welcoming and informal environment then this is for you! Evangelium (“Good News”) is a new course teaching the fundamental beliefs and practices of the Catholic Church. The course is largely visual, using a digital projector, and follows the Catechism of the Catholic Church.
You might:
● be a non Catholic;
● be married to a Catholic and would like to learn a little more;
● come to Mass each Sunday with your Catholic family and would like to really understand the Mass;
● feel that you may be excluded because of past experiences (actually no one is excluded from membership of the church);
● be a Catholic but have not practised regularly for years;
● be a baptised Christian seeking the fullness of the Catholic Faith;
● be an ordinary Catholic who has not really studied the Faith since school;
● have intellectual doubts, difficulties, or dilemmas about Catholicism.
Sessions of the new course start on 28th September 2010 and will take place weekly in the Social Centre on Tuesdays at 8.30pm, and end promptly at 9.45pm. This has been timed to enable those with young families to come along. There is no need to register, just turn up for coffee at 8.15pm. The first session will be an informal introduction to the course.
Any non-Catholic (18+ years) is most welcome to this group, which will explain the basics of the Catholic faith. However Catholics (especially spouses) are also warmly welcome. Further information from Father Bryan Wells (Priest-in-Charge, 01689 827100).
