Petts Wood Festival Chorus Vivaldi's Gloria
Come and sing Vivaldi’s Gloria! Following the highly successful performances of the past two years (Bach’s St John Passion in 2008 and Handel’s Messiah in 2009) the choir will this year be presenting Vivaldi’s joyful and exuberant work, ‘Gloria’. In addition there will be a couple of shorter items and a short programme by the nationally acclaimed artistes Tim Wells (‘cello) and Dominique Wong-Min (piano). Performances will take place at 3.00pm in Christ Church, Willett Way and at 7.30pm in St James’ on Sunday 16th May. The proceeds after expenses will be donated to the children's hospice, Demelza House. Rehearsals start on Tuesday 9th February 9th from 8.00-9.30pm in St James’ church, Petts Wood and will continue on Tuesday evenings with a break over Easter. Rehearals will NOT take place on Sundays as in previous years. Petts Wood Festival Chorus is a choir of some 70 members drawn mainly, but not exclusively, from the churches of Petts Wood and the surrounding area. It is an open choir and new voices are always welcome. Music reading is helpful but not essential – indeed, for many members this is the first choir they have taken part in. So if you are reading this and would like to sing Vivaldi’s Gloria, simply turn up on Tuesday 9th February at 8.00pm in St James’ church when you will receive a warm welcome!
